I obtained a BA in Natural Sciences at Cambridge before doing Part III Mathematics and then a PhD at the Cavendish Laboratory. After a one-year postdoc at the Institut Curie in Paris I returned to Cambridge for a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship, followed by a Royal Society University Research Fellowship.
I am also a Fellow of King's College, Cambridge.

Research interests

My research focuses on interdisciplinary applications of algorithmic information theory and network analysis, primarily to biology, but increasingly also other areas, such as the social sciences and digital humanities.
