The Department of Computer Science and Technology (also known as the Computer Laboratory) is an academic department within the University of Cambridge that encompasses Computer Science, along with many aspects of Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Following a recent donation from DeepMind, the Department has an exciting opportunity for outstanding researchers who are seeking to build the experiences and research profile that will enable them to progress to research leadership role in future. This is a 5-year appointment, during which the Fellow will conduct research in computer science or artificial intelligence (AI) and provide teaching and supervision for postgraduate students. As part of developing a balanced academic career which values the nurturing of new talents and generations, the DeepMind Fellow will be given time and support to be a role model and ambassador for Computer Science, encouraging future generations in Computer Science, especially emerging talent from Black backgrounds that are currently particularly under-represented in this field.

Duties and responsibilities for research associates include:

  • Research and scholarship
  • Teaching and learning support
  • Liaison and networking
  • Planning and organising research activities
