Biography

Dr. Nikolay Burlutskiy is an AI executive and the Head of Applied AI at the BBC, where he focuses on translating cutting-edge AI research into scalable, real-world products used by millions. With over 15 years of international experience spanning AI research, technical product development, and global enterprise strategy, he has a proven track record of driving AI innovation across diverse industries.

Before joining the BBC, Nikolay served as a Senior Engineering Manager at Mars, where he spearheaded the architecture and deployment of the Mars AI Experiences (MAX) platform, an enterprise generative AI capability supporting more than 170,000 associates. Prior to that, he was a Director of ML & AI at AstraZeneca, leading teams of AI scientists and engineers utilising generative AI and computer vision to accelerate drug discovery pipelines, harmonise clinical data, and automate histopathology workflows. Earlier, he led AI technical product development at ContextVision (Sweden), contributing to the creation of Inify, a spin-out AI company valued at $40M. Nikolay began his career as an AI engineer at Samsung Electronics (South Korea).
