A Cambridge Festival event

What is Health Data Research UK?

Health Data Research UK (HDR UK) [ https://www.hdruk.ac.uk/ ] is the national institute for health data science. We are uniting the UK’s health data to enable discoveries that improve people’s lives. Our vision is that every health and care interaction and research endeavour will be enhanced by access to large scale data and advanced analytics.

How is health data helping with the COVID-19 response?

In this talk, Professor John Danesh (head of the Department of Public Health and Primary Care at the University of Cambridge and an HDR UK Research Director) will explain how data from the NHS is being combined with information and samples from volunteers and the national COVID-19 testing programme to understand COVID-19 and inform the UK public health response. Using examples from cohorts of blood donors [ https://www.trackcovid.org.uk/ ] and the COVID-19 Genomics UK Consortium [ https://www.cogconsortium.uk/ ], Professor Danesh will explain how HDR UK has been able to rapidly generate new insights, using data provided by patients and collected by the NHS as part of their care and support, in ways that protect privacy and keep the data safe and secure.

The talk will be followed by a short question and answer session.
