ai@cam is inviting Cambridge researchers to take part in a new AI in Local Government Challenge Fair - a unique event designed to connect University expertise with the real-world challenges faced by local councils.
Held in partnership with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough councils, the fair will flip the usual academic model: instead of researchers presenting their work, local government teams will outline their biggest operational challenges - from social care paperwork to transport congestion - and explore where AI could make a difference and improve public services.
By spotlighting real pressures faced by councils, the fair creates a two-way marketplace, designed to explore how AI could provide practical, scalable solutions.
Promising collaborations emerging from the fair will be eligible to apply for follow-on support through ai@cam’s forthcoming AI for Local Government Accelerator, launching later this year to provide funding and incubator-style backing for proof-of-concept projects.
Deadline: Apply before Friday 14 November 2025
