Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for nine (9) months, potentially renewable for one year, pending funding.

The Faculty of Economics is looking to hire a Postdoctoral Research Assistant/Research Associate, starting date is 5 January 2027. The current funding is guaranteed from the Leverhulme Trust.

We are looking for a candidate with an interest in interdisciplinary research straddling the fields of economics, psychology and computer science. The post is attached to Prof. Peter Bossaerts' Leverhulme Trust International Professorship. The research aims at exploring and understanding human adaptability in the face of computational complexity.

For this position, the successful candidate should have an interest in computational complexity and human decision-making. Knowledge of experimental economics and econometrics is necessary; knowledge of theoretical computer science is desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to work on exploring how AI (in the form of LLMs and LRMs) can deal with computational complexity. The successful candidate is to aim to publish in high-impact academic journals and is expected to contribute to the collegial and intellectual life of the Economics Faculty and help promote interdisciplinarity across campus.
