Big Data Methods for Social Science and Policy - Interdisciplinary Workshop Programme

Elisabete A Silva

My talk will explore the challenges and opportunities of applying CA and ABM methodologies to spatial analysis (i.e. land use, transportation). It starts with the identification of types of data and processing and synchronization of vast amounts of quantitative and qualitative data from very different spatial and temporal scales. In a second phase it will describe some of the methods and models used to integrated data and answer to some of our research questions. It will finish by identifying problems of validation, verification and randomness. I will present some examples of fully operation models applied to multiple case studies.
