As part of Data Horror Week and leading up to World Digital Preservation Day, the Research Data Management and Digital Preservation teams are hosting an in-person Data Rescue Hackathon, and we would love for you to join us.

Why This Matters:
Publicly funded US government datasets and research resources are increasingly at risk of being removed, altered, or made inaccessible. Because researchers worldwide rely heavily on these collections, their disappearance poses a significant threat to global research integrity and reproducibility.

What the Session Involves:
We will be identifying, capturing, describing, and archiving vulnerable federal datasets to preserve them in Data Lumos, supporting the broader mission of the Data Rescue Project.

Attendees of all skill levels and roles are warmly welcome—no coding or specialist technical preservation experience is required!

What to Bring & Prepare:
- A laptop and charger
- Please create a free account on Data Lumos (datalumos.org) prior to the session
- (Optional) Links to any US federal datasets or agency resources relevant to your subject areas or departments

Tea, coffee, and biscuits will be provided!

We look forward to seeing you there!
