Department of Engineering, Central Cambridge

A position exists, for a Research Assistant/Associate in the Department of Engineering, to work on research in the fields of machine learning, hydrology, and water resources management at various spatial scales, from river basin to global.

The post holder will be located in Central Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.

The key responsibilities and duties are:

Explore alternative ML models for hydrological prediction, focusing on large river basins in Africa, Asia and South America
Assemble and harmonize large sets of hydro-climatic data
Contribute to research proposals and writing bids for research grants
Write peer reviewed academic publications of the highest standards of significance and impact
Supervise less experienced researchers and PhD students
Develop skills and networks to become a successful independent researcher, including through grant writing, independent papers, consulting, trainings.
