Department of Biochemistry
A Bioinformatician position is available in the Waller Laboratory to work on a Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation - funded project pursuing a mechanistic understanding of the process of endosymbiosis using dinoflagellate algae as models.
The position is to analyse existing quantitative RNA-seq and proteomics data with the aims of examining the correlations between transcript and protein levels, and the regulatory networks in these symbiotic partnerships using Weighted Gene Co-expression Networks (WGCNS) analysis.
The successful candidate will have proficiency in either Python or R languages. Experience with differential expression analysis is desired, as is experience with non-model organisms and phylogenetics. Ability to work both as part of a team, and independently, coupled with excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills are required.
