Cambridge Digital Humanities

Cambridge Digital Humanities seeks to appoint a Machine Learning Engineer for a fixed-term post to support an applied computer vision and machine learning project in collaboration with CAMPOP (Cambridge Group for the History of Population and Social Structure) and an external public-sector partner. The work will focus on developing and testing automated methods for extracting information from map-based planning documents at scale. The post holder will take a leading role in building and refining machine learning pipelines, with particular emphasis on computer vision, geospatial data, and map-based image analysis. We are looking for someone who can work with a high degree of independence, move quickly from prototype to practical workflow, and contribute technical judgement across the life of the project. There may also be occasional opportunities to contribute, on an ad hoc basis, to other ML work within CAMPOP.
