Research interests

As an architect and planner I am particularly interested in how shelter and infrastructure can adapt to accommodate mass migration, through building on big data/artificial intelligence and analyzing satellite imagery, while considering the socio-cultural implications of displacement, homelessness, and natural as well as man-made disaster. I am also engaged in crisis architecture, community design centres with a focus on the underprivileged, and alternative energy for small island tropical states and large-scale sustainable post-disaster reconstruction (e.g. Sri Lanka, The Bahamas, Haiti, Iraqi Kurdistan).
